We Care about the Environment and all Living Beings

From our humble start in 2009, we have been trying to minimize our impact on the environment.

We try to save as much from the landfill because all of them are toxic time bombs that emmitt methane, a powerful greenhouse gas.  But we still generate about one garbage bag full of waste a month that cannot be recycled.

Therefore, we take apart and separate as much waste as possible.

Some of the waste that is generated by our business is re-used, for example shipping boxes and some packaging materials.   We donate these materials to local shipping stores which in turn saves them money because they do not have to use virgin materials.

We recycle 90% of our waste materials such as cardboard from incoming shipments, paperboard, paper, plastics, metal and styrofoam by making a weekly trip to our local recycling facility.

Here are some examples:

This was an old Hill-Rom Model 105 system that was beyond repair.  So we took it apart into its individual components, separated by material.

And we do this with the help our many partners, including the City of Longmont Waste Diversion Center, Eco Cycle and the Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials.

To minimize our impact from driving, we utilize a Nissan Leaf, a small, all electric car and only use a gasoline powered truck to haul large number of packages or recycling when absolutely necessary.

We offset about 20 tons of carbon each year through CoolEffect.org due to our electricity consumption, travel, motor vehicle use and other negative impacts.

We also pay a living wage to all of our employees, starting at $ 25 hour.  And, we sponsor 3 Afghan School girls’ education through the Razia’s Ray of Hope Organization.

Through these actions, we hope that we are making the world a tiny little bit better, and that we mitigate the negative impacts of our business.
